White Label Backup

White label?

“White label” refers to a fully supported product or service that’s made or hosted by a source company but offered under your branding to end consumers. White label products and services give you the opportunity to sell or offer something without the time and expense in architecting it in-house.

White label backup just means that the backup service can be re-branded and customized by and sold as their own service to their end users.

Why not roll out your own ?

As an entrepreneur with a business problem or a solution provider our first instinct is to always try and implement the solution ourselves. After all that is what innovation is all about, right?  Why should we be dependent on a third party to implement our solutions and support our customers ?  Why shell out that much money when we can implement it with our own resources and own it ?

The point of backup, aside from saving the data itself, is to avoid headaches. As a professional, you have enough to deal with in your day-to-day responsibilities – you don’t need backups to be an additional problem. Doing everything ourselves is not always the right decision. In many cases building a solution from scratch can end up in failure resulting in a lot of wasted time and effort.

That’s because building your own solution can lead you to:

  • Reinvent the wheel, making mistakes that others before you have already made and mastered
  • Dramatically slow down your time to market, as you try to troubleshoot and increase your learning curve outside your core competency
  • Spend too much money developing tools and solutions that already exist in other formats
  • Miss out on resources and expertise in the specific space where you need a focused solution

Also when you opt for a white label backup solution you do not have to worry about the infrastructure or its maintenance.  It turns out to be a much cheaper deal than having your own setup. Besides the provider is generally an expert with contingency plans and disaster management; so you can rest assured that your customers’ data is in safe hands no matter what.

Which provider should i go for ?

There are many major players in the market; what do they offer and more importantly do they fit your business needs. You should consider your business case thoroughly before you make a decision. Here are some questions that you must ask.:

  • Does the provider offer support directly to your customers?
  • Are there network bandwidth concerns?
  • Are the backed up files compressed and/or encrypted?
  • Do you need to compress unencrypted local backups, but encrypt and compress online backup?
  • Do you need to easily access phone support?
  • Do they provide local backup support?
  • Do they comply to specific standards?

One other thing that you need to look for when selecting a provider is the range and variety of platforms and applications the provider supports. Having a large customer base can mean a large variety of environments and types of data. Solution union supports all types of operating systems and virtual machine hypervisors. We can also backup your lotus notes, mysql, oracle and SQL databases.  We also support microsoft exchange both at the database and mailbox levels.

We at Solution Union provide a fully encrypted online backup service that is white label and fully customizable. The  entire communication is encrypted end to end 256 bit ssl encryption which is fully HIPAA compliant. The backup is fully redundant and compression is an option that can be availed.

Visit our website for further details or if you would like to get your hands dirty with a live  demo  you do that as well.

HIPAA Compliant Backup Service

A brief history of HIPAA

HIPAA stands for The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 the act requires that the data related to an individuals health insurance be private and needs to be safeguarded. It requires the entities storing such data to have a strict compliance to guidelines before they are allowed to provide service. It was the result of efforts by the federal government to ensure healthcare data practices allow patients to easily move jobs, insurance, and/or healthcare providers.

The goals and objectives of this legislation are to streamline industry inefficiencies, reduce paperwork, make it easier to detect and prosecute fraud and abuse, while enabling workers of all professions to change jobs easily even if they (or family members) had pre-existing medical conditions.

HIPAA requires the ability to establish and maintain reasonable and appropriate administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to ensure integrity, privacy, security, and availability of information.

What does this mean for entities handling the information

Administrative Safeguards

A number of administrative requirements must be observed in order to meet HIPAA compliance. The standards cited in the Security Rule include a provider’s security management process, assigned security responsibilities, workforce security, information access management, security awareness training and contingency planning.

Physical Safeguards

These are related to physical infrastructure such as locks and secure access areas. The Physical Safeguards in the HIPAA Security Rule include standards for facility access controls, workstation use and security and device and media controls.

Controls must govern the introduction and removal of hardware and software from the network. (When equipment is retired it must be disposed of properly to ensure that PHI is not compromised.)

Access to equipment containing health information should be carefully controlled and monitored.

Access to hardware and software must be limited to properly authorized individuals.

Technical Safeguards

A minimum of 128-bit encryption, deletion and destruction of data, which can be done according to the Department of Defense’s standards, set forth in the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual. And if you don’t encrypt data at rest, then it must be destroyed.

Any backup service that you use should comply to the above mentioned guidelines. For a further understanding of these guidelines please refer this link.

Once you have a clear understanding of all the detailed requirements for compliance you would see that it would make sense to use a backup provider service than implement all of these yourself. Handling an inhouse solution will be both expensive and risky. Would it not be better to rely on someone who has experience in handling these requirements.

How can a Backup Service Provider help you

Advantages to using a data backup service are numerous.

For one, your data is stored off site, which lets you breathe easy in case of blackouts and malware. Automatic data backup is a another feature, seeing as you don’t have to worry about having to backup data periodically on site.

Not to mention, these services normally boast multiple file versioning, so multiple versions of specific documents and files are kept off site. Backup of servers is done overnight, and your data is encrypted, a Security Rule requirement a number of practices struggle with.

We at Solution Union understand that “With great power comes great responsibility.”

Hence all of the data is encrypted end to end and even onsite backup is included.

Office 365 vs White Label Hosted Exchange 2013: Which One is right for Resellers?

The right choice in cloud hosting goes a long way in eliminating the hassles of server management, and if acquired at a reasonable price point you can create a very profitable and stable line of business.
But with so many proponents for each solution lobbying for a wide range of options, the right choice has suddenly become a difficult choice for carriers. Do IT providers hand the entire relationship to Microsoft?
Office 365
Probably the main thing in Office 365’s favor is that its a suite of applications and not just email but with that also comes $6, $10, or $14 per user per month billing responsibilities.
It also helps that it already comes bundled with some rather excellent features, like OneNote, SharePoint, and Lync, which need to be bought as add-ons with other solutions. Not only that, Office 365 updates come fairly often so it’s a nice option for keeping office in line from year to year.
On the downside, Office 365 does limit the number of email recipients for every 24-hour period and can only support 300 users per account so medium to larger situations at the lowest price point are not supported. This can be a hindrance to a lot of companies but especially to IT providers as each 365 instance has it’s own separate login and web panel. Multi-tenancy for MSP’s is not a consideration and makes it very difficult to provide distributor level management. Not only that, Office 365 support can be a bit difficult to engage if purchased directly. Users have to go through a sizeable and complicated knowledge base to find answers and phone support is offshore. Techincal issues require language nuance and trust so most customers dont want someone they have never met remoting into their computers or network environments.
From a financial perspective, Office 365 costs quite a bit more than our $2 white label hosted exchange 2013. Furthermore, Office 365 is strictly commission-based and doesn’t have the same earning potential as white label solutions. This means that the client has to pay Microsoft directly for the Office 365 service, which leaves you with no paperwork or collection of the transaction. When the transaction is complete you will then receive a commission check, a very small one, from Microsoft and you are out of the picture.
With a white label solution you keep the client, you set the price point, and you support the product. White labeling keeps your company relevant and as cloud adoption rates soar you aren’t left out in the cold on residual revenues. As computers become more resilient the break fix market is drying up. Residual cloud services offer a new stream of stable revenue and white labeling maintains the relationship you have worked so hard to obtain.

Does your client need the full office suite or just enterprise Exchange email? Most users already have MS office so take advantage of that with our $2/1GB Exchange 2013 mailbox. If they are coming from a pop3/imap environment hosted exchange will change their business. Collaboration and connectivity that will truly save them money and increase productivity.

Hosted Exchange Service Comparison: What is the Best Hosted Exchange Service to Resell?

Not all Hosted Exchange services are created equal. This is why it is always a good idea to take the time to research and find out how a specific Hosted Exchange service measures up against its competitors. After all, everyone wants to get the most bang out of their buck. By simply investing a bit of time and effort to find the best possible service, you will invariably save yourself from potential heartache.

So, with regards to Hosted Exchange services, what features should you look out for? And how do various providers fare in each one? Let us find out.

Outlook Connectivity

This allows end users to use the rich client application that they know and love. By default, this is offered as part of packages by Hostway, Office 365, and even here at Solution Union, and for an additional fee by Rackspace and Intermedia.

Web-based Access

Users are allowed browser-based access to the Outlook Web app, which mimics the look and feel of the outlook client. This enables you to track the status your account and the movements within, without being tied to a desk. As long as you have an Internet connection from wherever you are in the world, you can easily log in and monitor. Again, this is a default offering from us here at Solution Union.

Mobile capability makes it accessible to all devices that can receive email, including all iOS, Android, and Windows Phone units. For people who are always on the go, this is crucial to making sure everything is working smoothly even when you are not in front of a computer. This is included at Solution Union at no extra charge. Others like Office 365, Hostway, and AppRiver also have a similar service but often charge higher prices or the lower options dont include active sync without a fee.

Different Hosted Exchange providers have different price points, and the storage they provide also vary correspondingly. Office 365, Intermedia, and Hostway offer 25GB of mailbox size, while AppRiver’s default mailbox storage is unlimited. Solution Union, on the other hand, offer mailbox storage at $0.09 per gigabyte,  and is a big beliver in only paying for what you use. The average Exchange mailbox is under 1GB so why pay 400% more for enormous mailboxes when all you need is 1GB? We can help you find out how much space you really need, so you can better plan your budget and re-allocate funds into other areas of your business.

Problem-free Account Management

Hosted Exchange providers may be offering the most high-tech and high-end tools to keep your business updated, but the bigger question is — is the app you are using navigable? By commissioning a service, it means you want to take the nitty-gritty out of your hands, while still being able to quickly check when you need to. You will need a provider with an user-friendly interface and employs easily understandable language that even first-time users can comprehend. What good is a stellar system if nobody understands how it works, right?

White Label Solutions

If you are looking for hosted exchange for MSP or cloud resellers, you will need a provider that can promise to keep its anonymity so you can carry on with your business using your own professional brand, like what we offer at Solution Union. Some businesses prefer to market the storage service as their own, not just to establish a reputation but also to create a bond of trust with their clients. There are different reasons why users prefer or do not prefer white labels, so assess first why you are employing the hosted exchange service before making a decision — or, better yet, talk to us so we can help you make informed decisions.

Stable Migration Assistance

Employing a hosted exchange service means transferring your existing files to a host service — so it matters a lot if the company gives all the assistance you need from day zero and until all bits are moved and properly set-up. This is particularly important for those looking at hosted exchange for MSP / resellers. Because you are using your personal professional brand to offer a service to other businesses, the entire migration process should be seamless and stress-free.

Continuing Support

During the Hosted Exchange comparison process, you will also need to look at whether the company can answer client support queries immediately. Nobody wants a provider that takes days to respond to your questions and reports. You will want a service that offers 24/7 access to a competent team of sales and technical support staff that can give you useful answers whenever you need them. Many hosted exchange reviews only gloss over the specs, but often fail to mention whether assistance is available after deployment. This is an important factor when shopping for a provider. You will need a service will a reliable follow-through offering. Solution Union offers customer support wherever and whenever via phone, email, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Google channels. It also has free web chat assistance.

There are many reasons why a Hosted Exchange could be beneficial to your business and the benefits outweigh the cost. In addition to a reduced overhead, the expenses are also predictable. The amount of data backup it can support also minimizes the impact of unforeseen events and outages on your files. Even when all your hardware has broken down, you can feel confident that all the information you have saved is tucked securely and can be accessed from any system. Ultimately, knowing what you need and will likely use from Hosted Exchange will determine the service that best fits your requirements. A firm budget helps, too. We at Solution Union are more than happy to answer all your queries and help you create a program that best suits your needs.
